Abstract
The question about the real number of defects in the HV equipment insulation and their properties is major but existing IEC standards aren’t accounted an idea of multiple defects. The defect is considered as a unique source of a series of partial discharges (PD) and the observed integral pattern of the PD is an overlap of all PD series. Ordinary representation of the PD integral pattern is well looked but can’t in common to separate PD sets associated with different defects. The investigation of the quasi-deterministic PD model shows that PD series have special properties and there allow formulate differential diagnostic algorithms for insulation defects. It is used mathematical problem of set coverage. The result of computer modeling is shown.
