In this paper, we propose a dense cell base station on-off switch algorithm with grid-based traffic map to improve the energy efficiency. First, a grid-based traffic map construction method is designed in dense cell circumstance with the assistant of Voronoi tessellation and natural neighbor interpolation. Then a low-complexity off-line algorithm that adjusts base station on-off according to different traffic loads is proposed.
