Abstract
Electric vehicles are gaining traction as an alternative to internal combustion engine vehicles, but the high cost and low availability of charging electronics and infrastructure are persisting problems. The ability to connect directly to DC micro grids to charge can potentially alleviate this problem, while also bolstering the performance of the micro grid. The dual inverter drive, which can perform integrated charging with a DC grid without additional hardware, is analyzed in terms of common-mode voltage generation and charging efficiency. The dual inverter integrated charger is experimentally shown to charge at up to 97.9% efficiency from a DC grid with under 5MIU (measurement indication units) leakage current generation, allowing for standard compliant non-isolated DC charging.
