Abstract
We experimentally demonstrate a waveguide-type polarization filter on silicon-on-insulator for on-chip gyroscope application. The device provides a polarization extinction ratio of >50 dB and an insertion loss of less than 1 dB over 1500∼1600 nm wavelength range, which is comparable to that of LiNbO3 waveguides.
