Abstract
Stand alone wind-Diesel power systems can be an attractive solution for the supply of remotely located consumers or the provision of enhanced energy independence particularly in the Near-East region. This paper presents a dynamic behavior of a hybrid power system containing a wind turbine induction generator and a Diesel generator set supplying electrical demands for the main hospital in Gaza-Strip - Palestine. In this regard, hydrogen path and accumulator bank are added as long term and short term storage devices - respectively - in order to balance power in the system. In this paper, a proper fuzzy logic algorithm followed by a time estimator is applied to intelligently manage the energy storage strategy depending on the battery-bank state of charge, the hydrogen tank pressure, the prospective wind speed and the excess power under a given load profile of the hospital. The simulation results have been obtained in Matlab-Simulink environment, using SimPowerSystems and Fuzzy Logic toolboxes.
