Abstract

The paper deals with the determination of video service quality in an IP environment with the use of different software tools. The typical impairment parameters of the IP transport platform, i.e. packet loss and burst factor, are taken into account. The encoding rates for video content also play an important role here. In the study, the advantages and disadvantages of the different software tools for determining video service quality are analysed. Two groups of measurement techniques are considered here: a) signal-based methods, and b) parameterized models. The output from these results are discussed and graphically displayed in several diagrams.
