Abstract

Multidimensional Optimization of Devices via Adiabatic Loss Limiting (MODALL) is used to optimize the profile of both a taper (1D problem) and an interlayer transition (2D problem). Both devices are compared to their nominal linear counterparts through simulation and measurement confirming a significant improvement in transmission across the O-band.
