Abstract
This article problematizes the body images that were published in the Junior magazine (2007-2015) during the period of its circulation in Brazil. Initially, body images are approached in the magazine, articulating with the field of visual culture. Then, the question of images of the middle class body addressed to readers is problematized, dialoguing, above all, with the theory of addressing modes studied by Elisabeth Ellsworth (2001). To this end, the magazine was explored as a document in which the 66 published editions were analyzed, with the focus of investigation on images that said of the ways of being a man, young and homosexual. From such research it was possible to problematize the potential of images in Junior magazine and their educational character, leading us to think about the uses we make of images, how they affect and subject us, how they enter our lives and how we relate to them.
