DEBATES ON INTEGRATION IN TURKEY: MAJOR ACTORS AND THEIR ROLES

Abstract

This article analyses different integration models that have emerged from the Ottoman period to the present in the field of immigrant integration in Turkey To do so, the author benefits from the secondary sources as well as from his own field studies. The main premise of the article is that the debates on migrant integration in Turkey benefit from both multiculturalist and republican models of integration. Based on the theoretical, historical, legal and institutional aspects of migrant integration in Turkey as well as the role of the actors in this process, the main purpose of this article is to discuss the integration debates that have emerged with the mass migration of Syrians over the past ten years. with. In the study, the concepts of integration and harmony (uyum) will be used synonymously.
