Роль звукоподражания в изучении орнитонима ласточка (łastówka, łastawka, jaskółka)

Abstract

The conducted analysis allows us to make an assumption about the onomatopoeic origin of the Polish ornithonym łastówka - jaskóła, as well as the dominance of vocal features in the etymology of Polish ornithonyms in general. In this regard, the theory of onomatopoeia receives its new development and is seen as one of the directions for future research in this area.
