A Lattice Approach to Complex Electromagnetic Environments

Abstract

We outline an approach to the characteriza­ tion of complicated electromagnetic environments based on a lattice (finite difference) approximation to Maxwell's equations. Approximate solutions to the equations are found numerically, subject to con­ straints imposed by boundary conditions and by measure­ ments of the field at some number of points. The tech­ nique is illustrated by sim p l e two and three dimensional examples.
