Abstract

The 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) is currently studying the support of advanced Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) services based on 5G New Radio (NR). The standardization work in Release 16 has been completed in June 2020. In order to achieve the high reliability and low latency requirements of the advanced V2X services, substantial changes are required to extend the NR framework to sidelink. This paper elaborates the state-of-art design aspects on physical layer structure for 5G V2X in Release 16. Some technical issues and future enhancements are also presented.
