On Lu Xun

Abstract

Lu Xun was one of the most vexatious militarists and politician in the Three Kingdoms.He helped Lu Meng take Jingzhou by storm and capture Guan Yu;he defeated Liu Bei,who was called "Hero of the World" in the Battle of Yiling; he routed the army of Wei,comprising one hundred thousand soldiers,in the Battle of Shiting and made great contributions to Wu.Lu Xun opposed Sun Quan's plan to aggress Liaodong and claimed that Wu should rehabilitate,develop economy,strengthen the power of country and make northern expedition in proper occasion. His opinions were very strategic and sensible.Lu Xun is highly trusted by Sun Quan.The emperor and minister were united and trusted each other.In his later years,Lu Xun was suspected by Sun Quan for participating in the Contest of Two Palaces and died sorrowfully and mirthlessly;however,the offspring of Lu Family were still the most eminent ministers of Wu.
