Abstract

This paper reports about a novel 8-port adapter suitable for measurement of symmetrical multiconductor cable assemblies. The adapter is analyzed in time and frequency domain and the obtained results validated with full-wave models. Good correlation of the measured and computed S-parameters is achieved in the frequency range of interest up to 2 GHz. Measurement example for observation of the screening attenuation and transfer impedance of multiconductor cables according to the triaxial measurement method demonstrate the adapter's applicability. The obtained results are compared to such measured using an alternative set-up where no such adapter is required.
