Abstract

Judge Wallach developed an interest in literature early in his life. He most admires Samuel Johnson, Alexander Pope, and other 18th century writers. When he began to practice law, he would find a "garden [literary] reference" in his brief writing to be useful. Wallach's favorite legal stylists include Cardozo and Holmes. The following 15 opinions by Judge Wallach are representative of the literary elements in his judicial writing and are grouped under three distinct categories. The footnotes are all Judge Wallach's.
