Abstract
In the interpretation of the energy sink hypothesis the real body has in the past been approximated by two or more rigid bodies, connected in such a fashion that damping forces acting between them dissipate energy. This approach suffers from several shortcomings, and a more rational treatment of the problem can be achieved by assuming intervalwise rigidity.
