Umfrage zur Rechtsstaatlichkeit in Russland

Abstract

The rule of law often is subject of dispute in Russia. Indeed, some recent events raise questions about the legal situation in the country. In some areas of law more problems will be discovered than in others. The German-Russian Lawyers‘ Association has invited legal experts from and dealing with Russia to take part in a survey in the rule of law. The results can help to objectify discussions about the state of the Russian rule of law. The results show that the rule of law has not yet been fully implemented in Russia. Not surprisingly, the problems in political areas of law such as dealing with the opposition are greater than in commercial or economic law. The law in the books performs better than the law in action. Most respondents still see corruption as a major problem.
