GIS IN THE ANALYSIS OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS OF HEAT AND POWER PLANTS IN SOUTHERN SAKHA, RUSSIA

Abstract

The results of a program to establish a geographic information system to monitor and forecast the negative environmental impacts of plants co-generating heat and electrical power for the cities of Chul'man and Neryungri in the southern part of the Sakha Republic, Russian Far East are described. One product of the program is a map depicting the location of lower- and higher-order geosystems affected by a cluster of related industries in Neryungri.
