Abstract
On 3 November 2017, in legislative decree n. 229, Italian law provided for the «Revision and integration of legislative decree 18 July 2005 n. 171>> and modernized the so-called Pleasure Craft Code.
Reformulated art. 49 duodecies regulates the «assistance and towing service»: assistance consists of small repairs, at sea, of pleasure vessels and pleasure boats; towing allows for these crafts to be moved to a special structure, when it is impossible to repair the crafts on site.
The towing mentioned in the reformulated law is different from the towing service regarding inland navigation (regulated by navigation code under articles 225-231): under art. 49 duodecies the service is a true «tug», even if carried out by mooring workers.
