Knowledge structures and categorization research in information systems

Abstract

The author presents a review of memory studies relating to the management and IS (information system) domains. He describes the state of development of knowledge structures and categorization research in cognitive psychology. This is followed by a discussion of how these findings could usefully be applied to research into various aspects of information systems design and use. These include information requirements determination, information presentation and interface design issues, and knowledge acquisition (KA) for knowledge-based system development.<>
