Abstract
In this paper, we examine the current research on the dynamic routing and spectrum assignment (RSA) problem in flexible optical networks. The existing RSA algorithms are classified into three main categories: fixed routing (FR), fixed alternative routing (FAR) and adaptive routing (AR).
