Abstract

Now a days as power factor maintenance plays an important role in power system. And henceforth many compensating devices are present now days. Some of them are uncontrolled devices such as fixed capacitors, fixed reactors; whereas some compensators such as Statcom, Voltage source converters contains advance control strategies. SVC compensator is one of the compensator which compensates the fast variable demand of reactive power. There are many controlling schemes for such compensators but through this paper we are going to defined microprocessor based logic for thyristor firing in case of SVC compensator.
