Trends in the development of the SPA and wellness industry in Russia

Abstract

The modern world is characterized by rigid dynamism and rhythm of life, high levels of stress, and an increase in non-communicable morbidity. One of the methods of reducing these negative phenomena is medical and wellness tourism and the whole set of sanatorium, SPA and wellness services aimed at restoring a person's physical strength, psychological balance and working capacity. The SPA and wellness industry in Russia is developing in accordance with global trends, using natural resources as the main factor of wellness. The article discusses the current trends in the development of the SPA and wellness industry of the Russian Federation. The main market participants are identified, natural resources used in SPA and wellness programs are identified. It is concluded that in our country the SPA and wellness segment of health tourism is experiencing steady growth and gain popularity.
