EFFECTIVENESS OF PLANNED TEACHING PROGRAM ON KNOWLEDGE AND ATTITUDE REGARDING DETERMINANTS OF DRUG ABUSE AMONG STUDENTS

Abstract

Drug abuse has increased all over the world and the age of initiation of abuse is progressively falling. Encouragement from the peer group, deep desire to be popular, poor parental control and easy availability of the substances make an adolescent to go for drug abuse. Adolescence is a period when lots of changes take place in body and mind. Adolescents start using harmful and illegal substances at younger age. Drinking, smoking and drug use by adolescents affect their general health, physical growth, emotional development and school performance. The present study was undertaken to assess the effectiveness of planned teaching programme on knowledge and attitude by comparing pre- and post-test score of experimental group.
