Abstract

IEEE 802.15.4 is a new standard intended to serve a set of simple but important applications with very low power consumption and relaxed data rate requirements. Among these applications are residential networks, medical sensor networks, and industrial monitoring networks. In this paper, we propose new mechanisms to reduce the energy consumption of IEEE 802.15.4 devices further.
