User Experience and Multimodal Usability of Navigation Systems - Evaluation of Effectiveness and Efficiency

Abstract

Every new generation of navigational systems provides new features and extended functionality, with added and/or upgraded functions that can oftentimes confound the primary information on the system's functionality. To analyze such dif-ferences, this paper focuses on few aspects regarding the functionality and modality. The conducted experiment analyses and observes available versions of navigation systems such as Garmin Drive 50 and/or Tom Tom Go, which are offered with certain advantages on new features. Our study presents the selected aspects regarding the implementation, design, environment, re-cruitment, tests, and evaluation of these navigation systems, with the objective of finding differences between audio and visual mode.
