Abstract

This paper aims to assess the functions of bidirectional chargers in Electric Vehicles (EVs) when connected to Smart Grids. A charger composed of a Three-Phase Voltage Source Converter connected to a bidirectional converter is modeled and controlled in order to show the benefits of EVs towards the battery, the grid and the different renewable energy sources. Different scenarios are studied and simulated using Matlab/Simulink and results are shown and discussed.
