Abstract

Increase in the use of portable and wireless gadgets, demanding antennas that are compact and easy to integrate with RF circuits. Micro-strip antennas are useful for the above requirements. Generally, the gain and bandwidth of patch antennas are low. Many researchers had emphasized regular shapes like square, rectangle and circular patches. In this paper, a pentagonal patch antenna is considered and impact of introduction of slot and DGS on bandwidth and gain is analyzed. It is evident from the results that bandwidth and gain are modified with introduction of slot and DGS. Simulation is carried out using HFSS software. Fabricated antenna is tested for practical results using Vector Network Analyzer.
