RETENÇÃO DE CORPOS ESTRANHOS: REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA DE LITERATURA

Abstract

Objective: To analyze scientific articles published in online journals on the national and international scene about the thematic retention of surgical instruments / foreign bodies, their risks and prevention. Methods: Integrative literature review, with data collection in August 2018, in the MEDLINE / PubMed library. Results: 14 publications were identified whose textual analysis allowed the production of the following thematic approaches: I) Causes and consequences of the retention of foreign bodies in surgical procedure II) Prevention methods for the retention of foreign bodies in surgical procedures. Conclusion: Evidence shows the importance of care and prevention of forgetting surgical instruments / foreign bodies in surgeries and the need for professionals to be attentive in reducing the occurrence of these cases, to avoid complications for patients.
