Abstract

Cost reduction in Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) becomes a must to extend their application to fields where a great amount of sensors is needed. In those cases, the use of smart sensors is expensive, consequently requiring the use of low-cost sensors followed by a versatile electronic interface able to adapt all the sensors used. This paper presents the design of a flexible interface, compatible with the most common types of analog sensors used in WSNs and with the property of self-configuration for each sensor. The proposed interface includes both electronic and software elements.
