Abstract

In recent years, the role of interleukin-17 (IL-17) in orchestrating and manipulating proinflammatory immune responses has received special attention. It has become apparent from murine studies and clinical trials that due to its inhibitory effect on immunoregulation and its stimulatory action on promoting proinflammatory responses, IL-17 is an ideal cytokine to target for drug development, in order to cease its induction or eliminate IL-17-producing cells of any kind.
